How does Tixel work

Unlike traditional lase treatments, Tixel delivers energy through a thermomechanical action using a titanium plate rather than using light-based energy, making it suitable for a broader range of skin types and sensitive areas.

Who is Tixel for

Tixel is ideal for clients looking to tighten skin, reduce signs of aging, and improve areas like the eyes. It effectively treats:

lines/wrinkles
skin laxity

dull complexion

How does Tixel feel?

Tixel creates a brief heat sensation, similar to a mild sunburn. Applying numbing cream before treatment reduces discomfort to about 5/10. Post-treatment warmth and tingling may last 1-3 hours. Comfort varies by skin type and treatment settings.

Is there any downtime after Tixel?

Clients typically experience redness and some swelling for up to 2 days. The skin will feel very dry and rough as it develops ‘micro crusts’ which appear like little brown spots. These spots eventually fall off as the skin heals and regenerates, to reveal clear, fresh skin. Total downtime will take anywhere from 5-10 days depending on treatment intensity. Recovery is faster than ablative lasers.

How often is Tixel recommended?

We recommend 3 initial treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart. Followed by 1-3 sessions yearly for maintenance.

Avoid active ingredients like retinol or exfoliants for 5-7 days
Apply numbing cream 1 hour before your session for comfort

what to do after your Tixel treatment

Apply SPF daily and avoid unprotected sun exposure, tanning beds or fake tan for 2-4 weeks
Cold compress to reduce redness, swelling or discomfort
Avoid heat such as hot showers, saunas, spas, or exercise for 48 hours
Avoid active ingredients such a retinol or exfoliation until healed
If needed, apply TR Pro (or a healing topical cream) to assist with the healing process
Do not pick or scrub the skin

Contraindications

Who is Tixel not for?

Excessive sun exposure or recent sun burn
Light sensitising medications (please inform your therapist of any current medications)
History of skin cancer or precancerous lesions (must have a recent skin cancer check)
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Certain autoimmune diseases
Dark or very tanned skin types
Keloid or hypertrophic scarring
Active cold sores
Active acne or rosacea flare ups
Poor wound healing or uncontrolled diabetes
